The Graduate School of Business and Public Policy (GSBPP) at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) seeks candidates for a non-tenure or tenure-track position in defense acquisition management. Responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in defense acquisition management, advising student theses and projects, conducting defense acquisition-related research, and managing course/curriculum development and administration.
Candidates for this position should show evidence of strong commitment to graduate-level teaching in a DOD academic institution. Candidates should also display a willingness to teach both resident and distance learning courses and the potential to conduct research of value to DOD. NPS offers courses year round on an 11-week quarter basis. Non-tenure track faculty teach approximately four quarters per year, while most tenure-track faculty members teach two quarters per year.
NPS is an educational institution within the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). It is located on the coast in Monterey, California, about 140 miles south of San Francisco. GSBPP is one of four separate schools within NPS, which awards graduate degrees in sciences, engineering, national security, computer science, operations research, and management. Students include U.S. and international military officers from all services, as well as federal employees. GSBPP has over 60 full-time faculty members, about 350 full-time resident students and approximately 200 part-time distance learning students. The AACSB, NASPAA, and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredit GSBPP and its degrees. Graduate degree in public administration, public policy, business, or a related field.
Significant defense acquisition program management experience and expertise.
DAWIA Level III certification in Program Management.
Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CPCM) is highly desired.
A proven track record of teaching effectiveness is highly desired.
Experience in distance learning methods and technologies is highly desired.
The potential to publish quality research in academic journals appropriate for their disciplinary background is highly desired.
Tenure-track candidates must have a terminal degree (or be very near completion) from a university accredited by one of the seven regional accreditation bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
