The Research Consultant is responsible for completing specific research projects as assigned by the Director, Research and Prospect Management. He/she may be asked to work closely with members of the Executive Staff, team members of the Office of Research and Prospect Management, and directors of development to complete assigned research projects in a timely manner. He/she may also be asked to complete top major donor prospect profile/research requests and new prospect identification projects as needed. This is a temporary part-time position.
This is a temporary, part-time, project based position. Work may be completed at AU’s 4401 Connecticut Avenue NW location or remotely (if residing in the DC Metro area). A writing sample will be required with all applications.

Bachelor’s degree required.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in development research, including experience briefing executive and cabinet-level staff on top university prospects
Proficiency in understanding and employing library and government reference sources, prospect research and writing techniques, database and related computer literacy
Some experience or familiarity with data analytics, comprehensive biographical or genealogical research, and/or financial analysis
Familiarity with research techniques, best practices, and the APRA Statement of Ethics
Ability to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality with highly sensitive information
Experience using online databases such as LexisNexis, WealthEngine, Foundation Directory, Guidestar, IWAVE, SEC Documents
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated experience successfully working with persons from diverse backgrounds
Maturity, sound judgment, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment
