Are you an independent technical contributor with expertise in project management and excited to partner with key departments and partners to meet their information system needs? Computing Services' Project Management Office is searching for a Project Manager who thrives in a challenging and diverse work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing essential project management support to our client business and academic units to fully implement and maintain their IT portfolio. We are looking for someone to provide project management mentorship to support university-wide projects as appropriate.
Your responsibilities will include:
Plan, monitor, and lead IT projects from initiation through completion or transition to operations. Prepare detailed project plans, including defined scope, resources, schedule, risks, and deliverables.
Advocate for resources based on the scope and necessity of the project. Once assigned a team, establish project governance, and coordinate the work of project staff.
Facilitate the team priorities and revise plans as appropriate to achieve project objectives. Manage all team meetings, facilitate decisions, work to resolve issues. Collaboratively build and lead the project budget.
Ensure adequate communication regarding project status, changes, and issues, within the project team and to all partners and executive sponsors.
Provide project management services to small/medium IT projects across the university. Take projects from original concept through final implementation integrating structured project management methodology.
Accountable for project planning, scheduling, and budget and risk assessment throughout project cycle. Define and solidify decision making methodologies and project governance.
Facilitate communications for project teams, sponsors and university constituents. Consult and partner with multi-departmental partners, technical managers and vendors.
May direct/garner technical or staff resources at various stages in the project cycle. Has shared accountability for project outcomes.
You should have a customer focus, the ability to lead the overall engagement, and a demonstrable attention to detail. You should be able to travel both domestically and internationally and be willing to work outside of normal business hours as needed.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; Master's Degree preferred
At least 5 years in an IT project management role
Relevant business analyst experience in higher education preferred
Preferred licenses and certifications: PMP – Project Management Professional (PMI), Six Sigma
