The director of digital and direct marketing reports to the executive director of patient and community engagement develops and manages VUMC Developmentâs direct marketing, digital strategy and online presence. This program develops and implements an integrated multichannel strategy, and significantly contributes to the growth of the donor base and revenue by planning and executing cross channel strategies. This individual will advise and support other VUMC Development fundraising programsâ digital and online requirements to optimize overall fundraising results. All of these activities help ensure VUMC Development achieves annual and long term fundraising objectives and goals. This is a strategic and creative role requiring a unique combination of skills including account management, client services, data analysis, design, direct mail, digital marketing, project management, direct marketing, and non-profit fundraising.
Plan, organize, execute and manage VUMC Developmentâs digital media and traditional direct marketing strategies to increase public engagement and giving.
Develop and oversee VUMC Developmentâs cross-channel digital, direct mail and donor engagement strategies to cultivate the current supporter base and build an engaged community of new supporters. Components will include, but are not limited to social media, web design and management, content marketing, crowdfunding, direct mail and email, CRM (customer relationship management)
Develop and oversee VUMCâs Developmentâs multi-channel integrated fundraising strategy in collaboration with and in support of VUMC Development programs requiring digital platform support, such as Development Communications, Community Development, Entertainment Industry Relations.
VUMC Development Services to manage the requirements, duties and responsibilities surrounding online giving and assure administrative processes are optimized for efficiency and delightful donor experience.
VUMC Development Communications, VUMC Strategic Marketing, VUMC News and Communications to ensure digital and direct marketing fundraising messaging and campaigns are brand aligned and appropriately integrated across VUMC sites assuring the VUMC brand standards are maintained.
VUMC Development Communications team to ensure published content adheres to âbest practicesâ for healthcare philanthropy.
Direct the creation of powerful, relevant, brand-aligned digital content to forge and deepen supporter relationships.
Assure that website structure, design and interface create a delightful user experience.
Evaluate technologies and tools for their potential to drive critically important improvements
Manage relationships with digital platform vendors.
Supervise, coordinate and evaluate program activities to insure success and continuous improvement.
Plan for adequate resources for the program by preparing operating and capital expenditure budgets.

Work cooperatively with VUMC Development colleagues, as well as colleagues across the Medical Center.
Perform other duties as assigned.
A bachelorâs degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience required, eight years preferred. The successful candidate will have a proven history of building digital audiences and growing revenue and possess an in depth knowledge of direct digital and integrated marketing and fundraising, CMS and CRM systems and analytic platforms. They must possess a high level of confidence, initiative, strong organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills. Candidates must also have the capacity to perform in an intellectually rigorous and complex environment, exhibit personal characteristics enabling effective interaction with important constituencies, and possess a genuine commitment to the advancement of sciences and science education and to the principles governing VUMC Development.
