Ecosphere is seeking to expand their technical editing department with subcontractor support in either an office or remote location. Qualified applicants will edit and format our scientific and environmental compliance reports using in-house and client templates. Role includes:
Editing and formatting large and small reports—usually containing text, tables, maps, and appendices for clarity, consistency, grammar, and conformity to style guidelines and templates.
Working effectively with project managers and authors to resolve content questions, scheduling shifts, and budget constraints
Using Ecosphere’s in-house templates, style guide, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes. Flexibility to adjust to project deliverable requirements.
Formatting documents for government clients to be ADA Section 508 compliant.
Experience and Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, or related discipline
A minimum 2 years of similar experience
Technical knowledge of environmental consulting or biological sciences is highly desirable
Expert in Microsoft Word is highly desirable and knowledgeable in other MS programs is needed.
Knowledge of GPO Style Guide and the Chicago Manual of Style a plus.
Expert in creating, combining, and manipulating PDFs in Adobe Acrobat, as well as knowledge of bookmarks, hyperlinks for navigability, and modifying PDFs for accessibility.

Superior command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and composition
Ability to translate technical jargon into plain language
Ability to work effectively under pressure and establish priorities under tight deadlines
