We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Sr. Account Representative.
In this role, the successful candidate under general direction, computes, bills, follows-up, corrects, and enters claim information in the billing system as assigned by management; works with minimal supervision and has the ability to explain processes and procedures to others.
Responsible for assisting the professional billing staff within the Cardiology division offices with complex and escalated issues (e.g. relating to Cardiac Cath billing).
Performs billing tasks assigned by management which may include data entry, claim review, charge review, TOS payment posting, accounts receivable follow-up, or other related responsibilities (including for off-site practice locations).
Provides input on system edits, processes, policies, and billing procedures to ensure maximization of revenues;
Reviews deposits to ensure steady cash flow. Reconciles deposits compared to the billing log. Preparing TROCS and making deposits to NYU Bursar Cashiers Office
Performs daily tasks in assigned work queues and according to manager assignments.
Enters account notes using standard formatting.
Work closely with provider offices on patient issues.
Review and resolve uncollected accounts and prepare charge corrections.
Appeal carrier denials through review of coding, contracts, and medical records
Utilizes insurance company websites to expedite the account follow-up process.
Makes appropriate corrections to system to satisfy/edit payer requirements and re-submit claims as needed.
Responsible for communication with billing service Account Representative Team and Signature Service Team.
Ensures that work complies with operational policies/procedures, and regulations.
Participates in workgroups and meetings.
Escalates issues to management as needed.
Attends all required training classes.
Reads and applies policies and procedures to make appropriate decisions.
Other duties as assigned.
To qualify you must have a Experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, insurance, or related duties; or formal training or education in medical billing that provides the required knowledge and abilities. H.S. Diploma, plus 2 years experience in a similar role. Bachelors degree preferred.
Knowledge of Current Procedures Codes (CPT) and International Class of Diseases Codes (ICD9) utilized in medical billing; medical billing software; healthcare billing including Medicare, Medicaid, or other third party payers; terminology utilized in medical billing; English usage, grammar, and spelling; basic math.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
