The International Student Adviser and Instructional Support Coordinator position's primary purpose is to ensure compliance with various government policies, regulations and programs related to Hamline's Global Initiatives, and manages relationships with all international students and scholars at Hamline.
*Must be a U.S. permanent resident or citizen per Department of Homeland Security Requirements. *Bachelor's degree in International Studies, Student Affairs or International Law. *Three (3) years experience in international education or related field. *Previous experience as F visa Designated School Officer (DSO) or Primary Designated School Officer (PDSO). *Previous experience as a J visa Responsible Officer (RO) or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO). *Previous experience working with the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS).
*Knowledge of U.S. federal law governing non-immigrant and global students and scholars, keen analytical and interpretive skills, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. *Experience in arranging activities for students and/or other experience in student development. *Demonstrated intercultural communication and public speaking skills. *Excellent problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action. *Outstanding ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities and tasks. *Ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying complex information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information from others. *Outstanding organization and planning skills. *Proven ability to work under stress and tight deadlines. *Experience and sensitivity working with students from diverse background. *Be familiar and comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and exercise best practices with regard to the maintenance of confidential student information. *Regular use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Google Apps, Banner and Crystal reporting.
