Posting Salary: Grade 28--$105,100 to $184,100 (Minimum to Midpoint)
Position Summary: The Senior Vice President for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SVP) has been charged with building and supporting a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem across all UC locations. The SVP is the primary lead for the President's Innovation and Entrepreneurship initiative and convenes the President's Innovation Council meetings. The SVP collaborates with other divisions and departments of UCOP, including but not limited to Government Relations, Public Affairs, Research and Graduate Studies, UC Health, Office of the Chief Investment Officer, and Office of the General Counsel. On the campuses, the SVP works closely with the Vice Chancellors for Research, innovation leaders and center Directors, as well as leaders in Government Relations, Development, and Communications.
Under the direction of the SVP, the Director assists with developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship (ICE) programs and initiatives. The Director is responsible for leading the development of key ICE programs as per the Division's strategic plan. The Director will work closely with individuals across functions to meet program objectives, drive organizational change, forge new working relationships and synergies across the organization, and establish greater transparency and accountability for individuals carrying out the Division's strategy.
The Director also leads the development and implementation of potential opportunities for programs in Silicon Valley, an initiative to establish a concierge service matching private sector partners and investors to UC innovators and entrepreneurs, and many other projects ensuring alignment with SVP's vision and goals for the Division. The Director provides advice, guidance, and assistance to the SVP and/or her direct reports. Represents the SVP in UCOP and system-wide meeting and discussions. Erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of division.
