The George Mason University School of Business has an opportunity for a Term Faculty appointment for a qualified individual to teach Accounting. There may be a possibility for multiple hires from this posting that will start Spring 2018 or Fall 2018. The initial appointment will be for one academic year, with a potential opportunity for renewal. Salary will be commensurate with experience and level. Responsibilities: Major responsibilities of the position include teaching various Accounting courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs; and service to the Accounting area, the school and the university. Teaching load is 3:3 or 4:4 based on faculty member qualifications and the unit's workload policy.
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or the combination of a MBA/M.S. in accounting with a desired professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CISA). The successful candidate will also have significant teaching experience. Good citizenship is critical as is the ability to work well with colleagues.
Preferred Qualification: Experience in teaching government accounting or accounting analytics.
Accounting Area: The Accounting Area has diverse research and teaching interests. We offer a vibrant, ambitious and collegial research and teaching community. Research is highly valued in the area and at the school. At present, there are 22 full-time faculty members in the area. Accounting Area faculty have published in many of the premier accounting journals, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research and Review of Accounting Studies, as well as other top journals.
