The Opportunity: Proposal Manager, Santa Clarita CA
The Proposal Manager will be a key member of the integrated bid and proposal team by planning, developing and producing, all proposal deliverables required by the solicitation; and be able to provide a hands-on approach to the entire proposal development processes, including but not limited to identification of team member roles and responsibilities, development of outlines and delegation of writing assignments, monitoring time lines, ensuring compliance, cost/pricing development, and all other aspects of producing a winning proposal. A key skill set for the proposal manager will be the ability to support and develop program cost and pricing in accordance with company policies. The proposal manager will work with corporate business development staff, as well as technical and support staff, too ensure that proposals reflect the best technical, management, and price offerings that Curtiss-Wright can make to get to a winning position on RFQs and RFPs.
Responsibilities •Responsible for all Bids and Proposals, including RFI’s, RFQs, RFP’s and a variety of informal requests for product and program information •Responds to RFQ/RFP releases and other calls for proposals; Drives proposal development individually and manages proposal teams to ensure proposals meet all customer requirements; prepares and assists in submission of proposals to include review and compliance, outlining, and follow-through on compliant and timely proposal submission •Prepares cost and pricing proposals utilizing elements of cost provided by other departments in accordance with company pricing and approval policies •Organizes and leads bid review meetings, including bid/no bid, and ensures winning strategies are established and clearly conveyed in the submission •Manages all proposal resource activities during proposal phase and post-submittal activities including leading customer negotiation and Fact Find meetings as required •Provides direction for the preparation of the technical, management, and cost inputs to achieve a response in line with the bid strategy •Leads and organizes ongoing proposal meetings to identify and resolve problems and share information •Leads the assembly and production of a complete submission which reflects the win strategy •Ensures that proposal capture win strategy (technical approach, pricing, NRE, deliverables, etc.) is discussed and challenged throughout the proposal process •Leads or participates in kick-off meetings; oversees team’s effort through the writing process; oversees proposal reviews as well as cost and pricing meetings; obtains management and corporate approvals; and follows through on compliant and timely proposal submission •Manages multiple bids and proposals with dynamic priorities •Drives and participates in Red & Black Team reviews for major proposals or when deemed necessary by the team •Leads process improvement initiatives
•Proficient in Microsoft Office business applications •Proficient in SAP ERP, PIVOTAL CRM, and Deltek MPM, or equivalents •Understanding of corporate and government financial concepts and ability to develop cost and pricing in accordance with company policies •Strong skills in planning, problem solving, analysis, and research •Excellent written and oral communication •Project management and team leadership skills and experience •Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadline requirements with minimal supervision
Education/Experience •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; with a focus on customer support •University degree in Engineering, Business Management, Finance, or equivalent experience •Multi-disciplined background or exposure to one or more of the following areas: program management, cost/pricing analysis, project engineering, business development, or contracts •Minimum 5 years related experience •Familiarity with Military and Aerospace market and customer base is desired, but not mandatory •Experience in Proposal Development and Management is mandatory
