The Virginia Military Institute is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Cadet Activities. The incumbent, reporting directly to the Assistant Commandant for Cadet Activities, supervises and/or performs the following activities:
Manages the physical fitness of the corps of cadets by executing the VMI Fitness Test.
Manages day-to-day operation of Cadet Life.
Manages special events such as MWR events, cadre lounge, matriculation fair, cadet awards, class functions, and other events as necessary.
Responsible for the input of content and the maintenance of all cadet life websites.
Manages the Bloodmobile program
Assist the Regimental S6 and S7 in planning, organizing and executing all aspects of the Public Relations, Athletic and Cadet Life Programs
Performs preliminary budget preparation including compiling data, analyzing data and making funding recommendations. Processes receiving reports for payment. Records and deposits monies received. Manages office financial transactions. Conducts monthly review of budget transaction reports.
Reviews and updates calendars on a daily basis.
Manages and process orders for uniforms, equipment and/or supplies. Makes travel and associated arrangements.
Performs budget analysis by the 10th of each month for the preceding month and informs the supervisor of any discrepancies. Drafts upcoming fiscal year budget.
Performs the duties of a Company Tactical Officer including oversight and/or participation in all training, training rehearsals, inspections and activities for New Cadets.
Associates degree required/ Bachelors preferred
Military experience a plus.
Experience working with students in education/higher education preferred
Sports Management experience preferred
Experience in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and Power point required
Experience in preparing and managing organization budget preferred
Experience in event/MWR planning preferred
Able to work non-traditional hours week day/weekend
