Chair (Professor/Associate Professor), Department of Public Health
New York Medical College (NYMC), School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP), invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair, Department of Public Health. We seek an accomplished professional from academia, government or the health care industry with broad and substantial experience in administration, teaching, and conducting research and outreach in one or more fields of public health. This position reports to the Dean, SHSP.
The Chair will provide academic and administrative leadership to SHSP’s newly-realigned Department of Public Health with 15-20 full-time faculty, some 130 adjuncts including the public health officers in 11 local county and city health departments, and 300-350 full- and part-time students. The Department offers CEPH-accredited MPH degree programs with specializations in behavioral sciences and health promotion, environmental health science, epidemiology, health policy and management; a DrPH degree program; MS degree programs in epidemiology and biostatistics; and advanced certificate programs in children with special health care needs, emergency preparedness, environmental health, global health, health education (CHES eligibility), industrial hygiene (CIH eligibility), and public health.
The Chair will ensure excellence in teaching, scholarship, research, and community outreach and service, leveraging and expanding collaborations with SHSP’s centers of excellence and departments of physical therapy and speech-language pathology, with other NYMC schools and, at direction of the Dean, representing SHSP with numerous external partners in community-based organizations, health centers and hospitals, and health departments and other government agencies.
