The Director of Actuarial Services - Risk Adjustment Revenue Projections supports internal and external clients forecasting of revenue streams and manages team responsible for model development, reporting, and consulting. This role will be essential in maintaining accuracy of revenue forecasting pertaining to Medicare Advantage and Commercial Risk Adjustment programs, indirectly translating into greater affordability of healthcare coverage. Primary Responsibilities:Provide design and oversight of complex actuarial projects Lead actuarial efforts that affect new and existing business Direct the development of competitive analysis and determine the impact on premiums and various product proposals Develop actuarial pricing models Lead an elite team of talented data modelers, actuarial specialists, and analytics experts Serve as the subject matter expert on the risk adjustment models across lines of business Develop pricing methodologies and assumptions Perform forecasting and trend analysis Calculate reserves and develop reserve models Design and implement new products and develop solutions that transform the industry Coordinate teams in multiple locations to drive "round the clock" service model Maintain the necessary communication and coordination with colleagues, stakeholders, and clients Develop management talents necessary to obtain short - and long - range goals by effective direction, counseling, and training according to an overall human capital plan Develop and maintain an effective organization through the selection, training, and motivation of all personnel Direct immediate subordinates in the management of their assigned areas to ensure that their responsibilities and performance are met in a way that is consistent with established policies and programs
Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) in (economics, business, finance, accounting, engineering, etc.) or equivalent working experience Extensive experience working as an Actuary in healthcare, insurance or finance Proven leadership experience at Director level Excellent communication and presentation style Proven experience in related job capacity (analytics, actuarial, underwriting, actuarial pricing, finance) Previous people management experience Experience driving new strategies and solutions to market Up to 25%, including international travel Preferred Qualifications:Extensive knowledge of concepts and methodologies in health care Familiarity with US healthcare system and Risk Adjustment as administered in concert with Medicare Advantage products or healthcare exchanges products governed by the Affordable Care Act Understanding of software development life cycle and Agile framework Experience managing innovation-driven functions (ex. - R&D, analytics) Post-graduate degree in relevant field of study (ex. - MBA, PhD, MA or MS Finance / Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Science) ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) designation Actuarial experience Careers with Optum.
