Assistant to the Energy Liaison
NYC Parks is the steward of nearly 30,000 acres of land — 14 percent of New York City — including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 67 public pools, 51 recreational facilities, 15 nature centers, 14 golf courses, and 14 miles of beaches. Major Responsibilities •Under supervision, perform energy audits for Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) facilities. •Quantify energy baselines and analyze building performance using energy modeling tools. •Research and evaluate federal, state and local energy programs and assist in securing energy efficiency grants. •Assist in resolving all outstanding unread electric/gas meter issues by coordinating with local utility companies. •Assist in monitoring the energy performance of comfort stations after the installation of efficiency items such as motion-sensing lights, pipe insulation, attic insulation, thermostats and gas hot water heaters. •Provide assistance with evaluating potential energy efficiencies such as building weatherization, HVAC improvements, water conservation measures and installation of renewable energy systems. •Assist Purchasing Analyst with processing funding requests and locating energy efficiency items in DCAS City and State Contracts. •Oversee and help coordinate various energy efficiency measures at DPR facilities citywide. Qualification Requirements 1.A baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college. A degree in any other engineering area or in mechanical engineering technology is not acceptable.
This position is exempt from NYC residency requirements.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications 1.Candidate holds a permanent or non-competitive title. 2.Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills. 3.Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Word, AutoCAD and PhotoShop. 4.Working knowledge of energy conservation and sustainability measures. 5.Driver license valid in New York State.
Salary: $50,000 - $57,958 plus excellent benefits
