The Colorado Municipal League (CML) is recruiting candidates for the position of Municipal Research Analyst. The position will coordinate CML’s municipal research efforts; s/he will design and conduct surveys, research, and analysis to support in-depth expertise on various issues for municipal mummers. Data will be shared with the membership through a variety of vehicles, including extensive reports, brief white papers, publications, articles in periodicals, videos, workshops, webinars, and more.
The successful candidate will:
Develop surveys, reports, videos and articles of best practices, emerging trends, and issues
Respond to requests for information from CML municipal members and other interested parties
Collaborate with outside organizations on surveys, research, and analysis
Develop and maintain data sets related to municipal research
Provide membership with comparative and explanatory data on municipal areas of interest
Organize and staff the CML Research committee
Coordinate the production and dissemination of municipal election information
Participate in bimonthly editorial board meetings
Participate in annual conference program development, workshop program development, membership services, and membership outreach activities
Keep up-to-date on current municipal issues
Monitor and track progress of performance measures in the organization’s strategic plan
Coordinate the activities of a municipal research intern, when required
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in political science, social science, history, English or journalism); a graduate degree in a related field is desirable. S/he will have a minimum of two years of experience in research and writing on public policy issue and/or work in municipal government or a state municipal league. Local government or other government-related experience and knowledge of Colorado state and local government are preferred. S/he will have expert ability to communicate verbally and in writing, excellent presentation skills, and proficiency in the use of computer software programs including word processing, database, email and internet.
