Performs all payroll related functions and services for assigned SSM Health entities (businesses) to ensure accurate and timely processing of wages and salaries to employees. Responsible for compliance with all regulations governing payroll as defined by the Internal Revenue Service, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Social Security Administration, state and local taxing jurisdictions, the Consumer Credit Protection Act and any government body or agency with authority governing payroll. Included is the administration of child support and garnishments, all payroll multi-state tax compliance activities, including compliance with federal, state and local regulations, filing all associated returns and records, making associated tax payments in a timely manner, and performing all general ledger activity related to payroll.
Reviews payroll-related transactions (Kronos, SAP, SAP Time, ADP Workforce Now, Flex, etc.) for completeness and accuracy.
Analyzes and enters employee payroll data and deductions, process and monitor payroll-related transactions and initiate corrections as required
Performs gross-to-net calculations as required to review and validate payroll data and output.
Calculates, processes, review and verifies special payments as required, including correct application of wage types.
Maintains current knowledge of payroll and related policies and procedures to ensure correct application to daily processing.
Verifies, reviews and maintains control over payroll system input and output.
Coordinates with other areas within the entities for matters related to application of company policy and employee transfers.
Responsible for balancing, verifying, and applying interfaces (Kronos, iChoice, Café, etc.) to the payroll system.
Ensures bi-weekly Kronos time cards are accurate and approved on a timely basis.
Administers (within the guidelines of the Consumer Credit Protection Act) all court ordered payroll deductions and remit all required payroll deductions for federal and state tax levies, child support orders, bankruptcy filings, student loan defaults, etc.
Processes payroll ensuring direct deposit file and all other interfaces are ready for upload on timely basis and print payroll checks.
Remits accurate payroll deductions on a timely basis.
Balances all month/quarter/year-to-date totals in the payroll system to ensure correct filing of Form W-2's to all federal, state and local taxing jurisdictions.
Researches and resolves customer inquiries and issues.
Works on special projects as needed
Participates in department projects and special initiatives
Assists with internal and external data requests (census, Form 990 information, etc.)
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Associate's Degree or equivalent of four years of experience in addition to a minimum of two years payroll experience.
Requires computer skills and the ability to communicate appropriately.
