Position Summary: Berkeley Lab’s Physics Division has an opening for Semiconductor R&D Facility Management and Process Development. This role will be responsible for the support of the Microsystems Lab to include on-going maintenance, quality control, and improvement of semiconductor equipment and processes. The MSL is a Class 10 clean room specializing in the production of silicon-based detectors for scientific applications with emphasis on supporting the scientific mission of the U.S. Department of Energy High-Energy Physics (HEP) program. This includes fully depleted charge-coupled devices (CCDs) for astronomical applications such as the Dark Energy Camera, the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Instrument, and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument, as well as charged particle detectors for space applications based on fully depleted, p-i-n diodes. The MSL is also contributing to the production of superconducting resonators for Cosmic Microwave Background experiments, as well as R&D projects to support the future needs of the HEP program. This position will report to the Microsystems Lab (MSL) Group Head.
