The City of Yakima Wastewater Division needs an Environmental Compliance Specialist to serve as the permit writer for the Pretreatment Program and the Environmental Compliance Specialist for the City's Wastewater Division. Performs a variety of complex and specialized functions including wastewater and surface stormwater discharge permit development and issuance and regulatory compliance review of both industries and of the Wastewater Division. Serves as the assistant to the Pretreatment Supervisor.

MINIMUM CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Four-year bachelor's degree in the area of Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related field, plus one year experience in wastewater, pretreatment, or permitting. College education beyond the four-year degree may be substituted on a month-to-month basis for the required experience. Supervisory experience is preferred.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:
Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's License at time of appointment. Must obtain and maintain a Basic First Aid/CPR Certificate, a Pretreatment Facility Inspection course and a HAZ-MAT course within the probationary period. A Washington Operators Certification Level 2 or higher is preferable.
