The successful candidate will join a dynamic team and be responsible for the following: •Carries out independent research within a multi-discipline project team. •Developing study plans and implementation of studies focused on Microbiology / Microbial Ecology/Microbial Physiology associated with microbiomes found in biota and environment.
This is primarily a hands-on- in the lab - position working as a Microbiologist on a Microbiome Studies team and this role is focused on: •Cultivation of fastidious aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms from a variety of biota and environments. •Host-Microbe interactions – how do modulations of microbiome affect host or environment? •Assays looking at microbial function, metabolism, antimicrobial efficacy, etc. •High Throughput Screening of microbial collections.
The successful candidate must work well within a team and have a track record of working in collaborative environments.
•Ph.D. degree in Microbiology / Microbial Ecology/Microbial Physiology with a minimum of 2 years Postdoc experience in an academic lab, government lab or industry lab setting. •The successful candidate should have excellent Microbiology / Microbial Ecology/Microbial Physiology skills and demonstrated working experience • Experience with automation equipment (e.g. Hamilton, Hudson, Beckman Coulter) is a plus. •Experience with Microbiome-related studies, Metagenomics and Meta-transcriptomics is a plus. •Understanding of immunology and its relation to host-pathogen interactions is a plus. •Understanding of immunology and its relation to host-pathogen interactions is a plus. •Excellent written and oral communication of research results. •The successful candidate must be motivated, creative, and have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, and can work independently or in a collaborative setting. •Strong analytical and organizational skills are highly desirable.
