In the role of Supervisor Claims, you will responsible for leading a team of up to 30 individuals who are responsible for processing a high volume of claims at or near 100% quality. This role includes the initial recruiting, hiring, and working with training for new hires to the team and the ongoing coaching, remediation and development of team members after training and ones who are tenured. This role also includes but is not limited to insuring that all policies and procedures are followed correctly, reporting to management as needed, being the go to person for your teams questions and issues, and appropriately adhering to the work processes that are in place. Along with the daily operations you will be responsible for motivating your team, supporting the United culture and serving as a leadership model for your team. You will also be expected to work closely with your peers and external partners on resolving issues, new projects and in identifying opportunities. Balancing daily operations with the united culture and constant change and innovation are part of the main keys to being successful in this role. This position reports to the Business Manager.Primary Responsibilities:Supervise, monitor, track and direct day to day operations to staff (Supervisor to staff ratio up to 1:30)Consistently meet established productivity, schedule conformance, and quality standardsMaintain a positive work environment that supports a quality driven team and identify any issues that may inhibit performanceMotivate individuals and teams to process claims accurately, and in a timely mannerFacilitate daily meetings to communicate team performance goals/resultsAssume accountability for ensuring individuals / team meets their performance metric goals, and support / adhere to improvement initiatives. Provide expertise and/or general claims support to teams in reviewing, researching and processing claimsServe as first point of escalation for SME's on procedural and technical issues; coach staff regarding how to effectively resolve the issue(s)Maintain scorecard to manage the team's performanceAble to review data, determine trends, gaps, issues, and identify ways to drive improvements Provide regular performance reports to the Business ManagerProvide formal and informal performance feedback to individuals and the team; conduct annual performance reviewsIncentive and reward individuals based on contribution and performanceProvide coaching to associates based on quality results; develop improvement plans when neededCoach and / or provide coaching to employees to on identified gaps in quality, performance or new processes. Identify and develop career goals; assist employee developmentInvestigate trends, surface issues, identify root problem and collaboratively work with specific team / individuals, and other business areas to resolve issuesPartner with Training / QA team to identify skill development needs associated with performance and ensure employees receive appropriate coaching and trainingIdentify skill development needs associated with career development opportunitiesIdentify high potential staff for succession planning Perform Human Resource administrative dutiesPartner with Business Manager to recruit, develop and manage a high caliber workforce with minimal turnover
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma / GED or higher 2+ years Coaching, Supervisory, or Managerial experienceExperience in inventory management with production and quality goals Ability to use Microsoft Excel to sort, filter, pivot, formulate and display dataAbility to use Microsoft Word to generate professional correspondence Ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint to create and edit presentations Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higherPrevious healthcare industry experiencePrevious claims processing experience within the healthcare industryPhysical Requirements and Work Environment: Extended periods of sitting at a computer and use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouseOffice environmentCareers with UnitedHealthcare.
