TheCorrectional Psychologist works under the supervision of the Chief Psychologistand the Director of Mental Health, Cermak Health Services of Cook County Health& Hospitals System (CCHHS), with clinical patient management by theresponsible Unit Psychiatrist and Chief of Psychiatry. Participates in andoversees the orderly management, operation, and delivery of a comprehensivecontinuum of mental health services in the acute, residential care, and/oroutpatient unit as well as the receiving and emergency/urgent care areas. Thisincludes the behavioral health delivery system to identify and manage allmental health recipient detainees admitted to the Cook County Department ofCorrections (CCDOC) and/or housed in those divisions/units.
The mission ofthese specific mental health receiving, treatment, and housing units is toprovide for the safe and human identification and management of detainees withserious or other mental illnesses within the Cook County Department ofCorrections environment. These mental health areas entail intensive andstructured mental health program services using a multi-disciplinary Unit Teamapproach, which incorporates all level of clinical, medical , nursing, andcustody staff. The Treatment Team include the assigned psychologist,psychiatrist, licensed social worker/licensed professional counselor,unlicensed mental health specialist, expression therapist and reentry socialworker, relevant nurse, and primary care physician as well as the CCDOC custodypersonnel, respective Corrections Rehabilitation Worker (CRW) and otherSheriff's Department personal as appropriate.
The unit andprogram goals, to be enacted by the Unit Director: providing screening,assessment and diagnostic systems, and a therapeutic housing environment formentally ill pretrial and sentenced detainees. To facilitate institutionaladjustment and development of the detainees coping skills and attaining a levelof functioning sufficient for return to a general population or community setting,in preparation for post-release linkage programming.
Licensed in the State ofIllinois (Doctoral Clinical Psychologist with a PhD or PsyD)
Completion of a pre-doctoralinternship at a program accredited by the American Psychological Association orlisted with the Association of Psychology Post-Doctoral & InternshipCenters (APPIC) (Must provide certification of completion at time ofcredentialing)
Completion of a PhD or PsyDfrom an American Psychological Association accredited graduate program (Mustprovide copy of official transcripts at time of credentialing) (In Adult Psychiatry)
Five (5) years of behavioralhealth services delivery experience as a clinical psychologist
Three (3) years of progressivelyresponsible clinical or administrative supervision of mental healthprofessionals and programs
Must be CardiopulmonaryResuscitation (CPR) certified
Forensic or correctionalsupervised training and/or work experience
Experience in MicrosoftOffice Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience in ElectronicMedical Record (Epic, Cerner, Centricity or other forms)
Experience in working withpublic health
Experience in dealing withmentally ill, developmentally disable, co-morbid and substance abuse patients
Bilingual (English/Spanishor English/Polish)
Must successfully meet the credentialing standardsestablished by the Cook County Health and Hospitals System to include a Stateof Illinois MD license and any other license, certification, or specializedtraining, etc. no later than two (2) weeks prior to the candidate's start date.
