Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FGP Medical Assistant (35) to support multiple sites. The incumbent will join our Medical Assistant floater team, and will support practices located throughout the NYC boroughs of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. He/She will be responsible for assisting physicians, clinical care providers and nursing staff in providing patient care. The incumbent will work rotating shifts during Mon-Fri, between the hours of 8am to 6pm, for a total work week of 35 hours.
Obtain vital signs, weights, and EKGs when needed. Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas. Assist in escorting patients and specimens throughout the facility.
Ensure medical record is available, with relevant lab work and test report, if indicated, for physician when the physician sees the patient.
Maintain exam room/treatment rooms with inventory of medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms. Ensure exam rooms/treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient. Assist with light housekeeping duties which includes spills.
Assures completion of patient charges as per policy.
Assist patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating and maintaining comfort.
Assist physicians with procedures, if needed.
Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use, in compliance with all OSHA guidelines and regulations.
Answer phones and assist staff in scheduling patient care needs.
Assist patients and communicate with Physicians to obtain prescription renewals, as needed.
Work as a functional member of the Department. Attend staff meetings as requested.
Assist in the training of new personnel.
Maintain professional demeanor at all times with physicians, co-workers and patients.
Responsible for any other duties as stipulated by an Executive Leadership member of the Department, including but not limited to the Department Chairman or the Department Administrator.
Ensure service excellence by becoming familiar with the seven principles of behavior and putting them into practice in carrying out job responsibilities.
HIPAA Conform to all applicable HIPAA compliance and safety guidelines.
Demonstrate knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporate them into the performance of duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
To qualify you must have a high school diploma or GED, Medical Assistant certification from an accredited institution, and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience with Pediatric patients a plus. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
