The Director of Infection Control and Employee Health will have authority over the system wide infection prevention and control programs. Responsible for establishing mission, vision, planning, direction, assessment and leadership for effective infection prevention and control programs for the DHS and it's outpatient services in areas of surveillance, reporting, prevention and control of infections including related regulatory compliance, accreditation standard compliance and quality/performance improvement. Serves as infection control officer as delegated by the chairman of Infection Control Committee.
Assures that a comprehensive Infection Prevention & Control program is designed and implemented for all corporate facilities.
Develops and implements policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases;
Implementing policies governing control of infections and communicable diseases.
Developing a system for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases Design and direct strategies to reduce healthcare associated infections (HAI).
Perform surveillance and calculate rates for DHS.
Report infection rates monthly, quarterly to different committees.
Create and review hospital & departmental infection control policies and procedures.
Coordinates and Reports to the Infection Control Committee PGHC, LRH, GSSH & NH in monitoring infection control issues and recommending interventions to reduce incidents.
Reports to the Medical Executive Committee at the GSSH & NH in monitoring infection control issues and recommending interventions to reduce incidents.
Provide continuing education for all departments in regards to infection prevention and control & epidemiology activities.
Investigate outbreaks or clusters of HAI; organize implement, and evaluate hospital wide infection surveillance activities.
Ensure appropriate data collection, analysis, and reporting of surveillance data.
Discuss and recommend revision of surveillance activities.
Monitor and evaluate performance improvement related to reported Infection Control findings and recommendations
Supervises Infection Prevention & Control staff per DHS policies & procedures including performance management, coaching and taking corrective action as needed.
Reports to the Safety Committee PGHC, LRH, GSSH & NH in monitoring employee safety issues and recommending interventions to reduce incidents.
Maintains all employee health statistics as required.
Other Committee Reporting
Reports to the Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee at PGHC and LRH in monitoring antibiotic issues and recommending interventions.
Reports to Performance Improvement (OPI) Committee at PGHC and LRH Infection Control and Employee Health data and plan interventions as needed.
Report to other committees such as The Joint Commission, Emergency Preparedness Council, etc. as needed.
Master's degree in Nursing, Medicine, Microbiology or related field
Current Infection Control Certification (CBIC) and ongoing continuous education and training
Minimum five (5) years' experience with three (3) in management of Infection Control/Prevention Department in a hospital setting
