To provide leadership and accountability in the strategic and daily operations of the clinical service. The focus of the position will be the operations of the clinical service. This will include developing and maintaining physician relations, empowering clinical care givers through solicitation of input and implementation of actions to improve delivery of patient care. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the administrative functions of the clinical service. He/she will supervise the delivery of patient care and has the responsibility for establishing standards of nursing practice for the service and the nursing division as a whole. Assure achievement of department, nursing division and hospital goals as well as adherence to hospital policies and standards set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies.
Minimum Education Requirements
BSN required; MSN or other Master's degree required
Minimum Experience Requirements
Four years of leadership/management experience in an acute care hospital
Certification in Specialty or Nurse Executive Preferred (or within 1 year)
Current Colorado RN License
Directs the development of strategic and operational programs for the service are
Plans and implements established departmental and service policies and procedures which compliment nursing division and hospital policies and procedures.
Establishes and maintains satisfactory customer and public relations through direct or delegated contact.
Performs job functions/duties, providing effective verbal and written communication to both internal and external customers.
Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development.
Develops and maintains a "service excellence" environment and achieves "completely satisfied" customer satisfaction scores.
Maintains an ongoing analysis of clinical service performance and monitors trends and opportunities.
Recommends, initiates and evaluates service improvements to meet the changing market needs.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the service and hospitals' operations and its programs and initiating required changes or improvements.
Establishes a culture of teamwork and collaboration to provide quality patient care.
Demonstrates understanding of CQI principles and activities sets and enforces high standards for the quality of patient care delivered.
Develops and tracks both operational and capital budgets for assigned departments.
Assures that resources are allocated within departments to provide optimal patient care.
Management of costs as measured by established financial standards.
Manages unit leadership and employees through subordinates.
Establishes service performance goals, allocates resources and evaluates performance.
Adjusts staffing levels directly or through delegation to assure adequate levels for patient care delivery.
Professional role model for all staff demonstrating ethical / legal professional nursing process.
Provides mentoring and coaching support for service leadership and staff.
Provides work environment, which fosters professional development and growth.
Collaborates effectively with physicians, peers, staff and administration to promote interdisciplinary communication and cooperation.
Provides leadership to the nursing division through coaching and mentoring and collaborating to plan, implement and evaluate delivery of patient care.
