Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include, but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change: Adheres to the Credit Union's core values in serving with truth, trust, mentoring, openness, risk-taking, communication, giving credit, integrity, caring, and respect in carrying out the UICCU's mission and vision. Demonstrates a positive member service (internal and external) focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact immediately upon their arrival. Consistent usage of the members name during contact and always thanking them for their business. Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities. Ensures confidentiality of member information. Proactively cross-sells all Credit Union products and services when appropriate, including loan products that are offered through the Credit Union. Performs comprehensive credit investigations on all consumer OTC and online credit applications, including but not limited to credit cards, secured and unsecured consumer loans, and 2nd mortgage-secured loans. Processes all consumer OTC and online credit applications and obtains documentation necessary to make a sound credit decision. Calculates debt-to-income ratios and unsecured debt to gross income ratios on consumer loan applications. Approves or denies credit applications within the scope of Credit Union retail lending guidelines, policies, and individual approval authority. Reviews collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for consumer loans when underwriting the loan request. Assists in the development and implementation of new consumer loan products and services. Performs any other duties as may be required to meet Credit Union objectives. Plays a vital role in enriching the community by participating in community service organizations and/or Credit Union sponsored events on an annual basis.
Minimum two to four years of consumer lending experience or equivalent financial background required. Reports to work punctually, works all scheduled hours, and works overtime as necessitated by business demand. Job will require a non-traditional workweek with extra hours including evening and/or weekend duties. Ability to prioritize work assignments and organize work efficiently, to handle large volumes of details. Sales ability and interpersonal skills to represent the Credit Union in a positive way during member contact. Accuracy and attention to detail required. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Knowledge of consumer loan policies, credit granting criteria, interest rates and how they are computed, and required documentation for each type of loan. Knowledge of interviewing skills and techniques required. Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products and services; ensures appropriate application of the Credit Union's policies and procedures; knowledge of lending practices and consumer credit laws and regulations as well as state and federal laws governing consumer lending. Excellent analytical skills, as well as conflict resolution or mediation skills. High school diploma or the equivalent (i.e. GED). Proficiency in a wide variety of personal computer software programs, including the Microsoft Office suite of products. Must be bondable.
