The Senior Medical Director of HIV Services will leadthe Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS) towards ameliorating theregional epidemic of HIV/AIDS and related sexually transmitted and blood-borneinfections by ensuring consistent application across CCHHS facilities of:state-of-the-art primary and subspecialty medical care for patients infectedwith HIV by fully implementing recommended HIV screening and testing practices;and by integrating these services with comprehensive intervention and outreach,sexual and mental health and case management services. This position is responsible for ensuringcoordination of these efforts with those of local, regional, state and federalhealth departments; with non-CCHHS HIV medical care providers; and withcommunity-based organizations (CBOs) providing relevant services.
Doctorof Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accreditedmedical college or university
Licensedas a physician in the State of Illinois or must obtain two (2) weeks prior tostarting employment
Currentand valid Illinois Controlled Substances License or must obtain two (2) weeksprior to starting employment
Currentand valid licensure with the Federal DEA or must obtain two (2) weeks prior tostarting employment
Boardcertified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases with the American Boardof Internal Medicine (ABIM)
Ten(10) or more years of clinical practice experience in Infectious Diseases andambulatory HIV care
Eligibilityfor appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor of an accredited medicalcollege or university
Valid Driver's license and mandatory vehicle insurance as required in theState of Illinois (In accordance with the Code of Ordinances of Cook County,Illinois codified through Ordinance No. 16-0692, enacted February 10, 2016(Supp. No. 32) § Sec. 2-673)
Demonstratedeffectiveness in coordinating multidisciplinary medical and allied services
Substantialexperience in an ambulatory leadership or administration
Substantialexperience in the delivery and coordination of care in underserved areas andpopulations
Knowledge, Skills, Abilitiesand Other Characteristics
Knowledgeof HIV/AIDs, sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection screening andtesting practices
Excellentverbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with alllevels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and agegroups
Strongcustomer service and empathy skills
Abilityto recommend and oversee the management of staff
Abilityto collaborate on interdisciplinary projects
Abilityto participate in the activities and educational programs appropriate to thespecialty
Ability to adhere to department policies and standards utilizing best practices incorporating the use of electronic health record (EHR)
