The Department of Finance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applicants for the position of Director, Office of Risk Management and Insurance Research.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide instruction in the areas of risk management and insurance and oversee all administrative aspects of the Office of Risk Management and Insurance Research (ORMIR). Set strategic direction with input from key academic and professional stakeholders; develop and lead marketing strategy. Support curriculum design and professional education programs in collaboration with department/college partners; collaborate with other units across Urbana-Champaign campus in promoting risk management research and educational programs. Serve as conduit between industry leaders and academics so as to identify key research areas that address critical issues in the risk management and insurance fields.
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree at minimum, and have a combination of academic and professional work experience in the area of risk management and insurance or related fields. Minimum of ten years of progressively more responsible positions as a risk management executive is preferred. Excellent communication and writing ability, as well as strong computer and analytical skills, are vital. The Director must be able to interact effectively with academics, corporate executives, government officials, university staff, and individuals of diverse backgrounds. Good organizational skills and ability to follow through on projects are essential. Must be able to solve problems, often in an ambiguous environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks with constant interruptions is essential. Accuracy and attention to detail are necessary. Adaptability to a changing environment essential.
Additional Salary Information: Commensurate with rank and experience.
