The Department of Justice, Law and Criminology in the School of Public Affairs at American University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Terrorism and Homeland Security beginning August 1, 2018. A PhD at the time of appointment is required. Candidates who only possess a law degree (JD, LLM or SJD) will not be considered for this position.
The position is focused on candidates who conduct research and are able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the field of terrorism studies, political violence, or homeland/national security. Applicants whose teaching and research interests connect to Criminology and/or legal studies in areas such as organized crime/gangs or cyber crimes would also be given preference. Successful applicants must have a strong research portfolio that includes a track record of publications in high-quality peer-reviewed outlets as well as the ability to attract external funding for their research.Applicants also need documented experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.
