Associate Director, Pharma Technical Development - Head of Information Systems
Reporting to the Head of PTD Business Operations (PTDO),this position will lead a team of professionals responsible for providing IT business application services to PTD. PTD Business Operations (PTDO) is responsible for creating and maintaining a sustainable global business infrastructure for Global Technical Development(PTD) focused on innovation, continuous improvement and effective work processes. PTDO finds better ways to do great work and looks to ensure our people have the tools, knowledge and resources required to be successful.
To ensure the effective execution of PTD efforts around data and information lifecycle management, this position will be accountable for the leadership of defining, developing and implementing the strategic PTD systems landscape and data operations across PTD. This individual will be responsible not only for setting the strategic direction of the information landscape but will work in close collaboration with partners across PTD and key Roche and Pharma Informatics colleagues to leverage resources, solutions and best practices to ensure on-target,on-time and within-budget implementations. This individual will ensure global coordination and alignment where appropriate across PTD and will require exceptional strategic thinking, collaboration, customer focus, communication, organization, negotiation,facilitation and influencing abilities.
Key activities and accountabilities in this role will be: Ownership of cross-functional systems, tools and data standards as agreed to by PTD Leadership Team. Includes defining the business goals to support the systems, functionality needs, business requirements, and service levels. Govern, prioritize, and deliver a portfolio of projects that are aligned with PTD business strategy and technology roadmaps. Highlight short-term trade-offs vs long-term commitments and where those are worth implementing or not. Ensure that the Solutions are scalable (technology), efficient (process), effective(cost), and supportable. Serve as point-person for all PTD IT needs with key stakeholders in other groups (FPP and other Roche IT groups) to ensure alignment where applicable with other Roche IT solutions. Act the PTD lead on PT-wide steering committees,initiatives and communities pertaining to Information Technology. Ensure that the technology architecture and technical strategies remain current with the business goals,and direct the development of architecture activities and projects, while aligning with current and long-term business and technology goals. Stay abreast of best practices,technical developments and other innovations that pertain to information management and analytics services and capabilities. Accountable for the development, implementation, and enforcement of Technology and Information vision and strategy, in-line with the overall Pharma strategy. Coordinate across projects to eliminate duplication of effort and where appropriate leverage existing solutions. Create an environment of strong team spirit and lead a group of IT staff and on-shore and off-shore contractors to deliver PTD specific solutions.
Who You Are
You have a proven track record of successfully leading and implementing small and large technology initiatives and working successfully in a multifunctional, global environment as well as the ability to motivate and influence senior direct reports and peers in a complex, global environment.
Over 15 years of experience in IT, with deep knowledge in data and information flow and significant project management and coordination experience. Consulting or equivalent experience and highly developed strategic agility, analytical mindset, strong communication and decision making skills Knowledge of how to drive change across multiple sites and functions and ability to mobilize an organization and build trustful/effective relationships. Promoter of teamwork and collaboration, while taking responsibility to deliver. Proficient knowledge of the pharmaceutical processes. Excellent English language and communication and a University degree in IT/ Business Management or equivalent. Strong coaching, mentoring and influencing skills.Strong leadership and people management skills, inspiring and empowering leadership style. Able to contribute at a functional leadership level beyond own immediate area of responsibility with strong communication skills and ability to forge relationships with a wide range of colleagues across the globe. Flexibility to travel for up to 20%internationally.
