The Women's Hospital Foundation Distinguished Professor and Director is responsible for providing the leadership, strategic and operational direction, and administrative oversight necessary to establish, develop, and promote the University's Center for Simulation Excellence (CSE). This position is a 10-month faculty appointment with a reduced teaching load (12 hours per year) and carries with it all the responsibilities of a full-time faculty member and Faculty Director as defined in the Stevenson University Policy Manual and in the Full-Time Faculty Job Description. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical simulation in the curriculum; ongoing assessment of CSE quality and effectiveness; providing faculty training and development; cultivating and sustaining an active research program that includes undergraduate students; and engaging in teaching, scholarship, and service activities. The Professor and Director identifies opportunities for innovation and funding, and conducts research.
Doctoral degree in Nursing plus three years of experience in simulation, and at least five years college-level teaching experience commensurate with the rank of associate professor or professor, R.N. license, and Maryland Board of Nursing certified or eligible. Certified as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). Commitment to establishing an active research program that includes undergraduate students as learners.

Coordinate the evolution of a state-of-the-art simulation center that supports the vision and mission of the Nursing Department, the School of Nursing and Health Professions, Stevenson University, and the Women's Hospital Foundation.

In collaboration with the Dean of the Sandra R. Berman School of Nursing and Health Professions, develop, implement, evaluate, revise, and communicate the strategic plan for Healthcare Simulation.
Collaborate with faculty and Nursing Curriculum Committee to develop policies, procedures, and practices governing activities within simulation laboratories.
Coordinate the acquisition and upgrading of simulation supplies/equipment and projects future needs in consultation with faculty members.
Coordinate the use of the simulation laboratories for education and research as well as marketing and recruitment of students and faculty
Collaborate with administration from local and regional high schools to identify simulation opportunities for students interested in healthcare professions.
Lead and coordinate daily activities of simulation laboratories' support staff and instructors.
Engage in ongoing assessment, compile data, and submit annual reports.
Contribute to development and updating of position descriptions for simulation faculty on an ongoing basis.
Participate in the recruitment and retention of high quality simulation faculty and staff in conjunction with the Dean.
Collaborate with the Department Chair of Nursing to conduct performance review of all non-academic staff within the simulation laboratories.
Consult with clinical partners to identify concerns that can be addressed with simulation.
Ensure effective and efficient operations, capacity, work-flow planning, and faculty development.
Engage in instructional activity totaling 6 credit or contact hours per semester and/or 12 credit or contact hours per academic year.
As part of Instructional Activity load: -Prepare courses and/or simulated clinical experiences in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines, deliver content and evaluate student products. -Hold office hours (minimum of 3 hours per week), -Meet with students as related to instructional activity.
Ensure the simulation laboratories are an environment that supports "best practice" experiential learning activities
Provide leadership and ongoing development, support and guidance, to faculty and students using state-of- the-art teaching pedagogy.
In collaboration with faculty members and curriculum committees, ensure integration of simulation technology and education strategy in curriculum implementation.
Develop simulation technology and educational strategy expertise for faculty, staff, and students by coordinating learning activities related to use and operation of new resources and equipment.
Collaborate with instructors, course coordinators, and curriculum development teams to design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning strategies used in clinical simulation for all healthcare programs.
Conduct long-range planning as it relates to teaching/learning excellence and the use of instructional technologies.
Participate in faculty development and mentoring to advance knowledge and skills in use of simulation education strategies.
Develop and maintain independent intellectual pursuits, including research, that enhance teaching effectiveness.
Develop and maintain an ongoing research program that engages students and leads to presentation and publication in internal and external forums.
Engage in professional activities, including publishing, to document clinical and teaching excellence.
Pursue internal and external funding sources to support scholarly activity.
Attend professional development workshops, meetings, and talks related to professional interests, including those of professional societies.
