: We are seeking an R&D, Aeronautical Engineer\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Architect, model, simulate, and analyze military missions involving operation of various systems, actual and conceptual: aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, radars, optical sensors, ground assets, ships, and logistics systems among the others;+ Define performance metrics, and design and execute experiments to identify and determine mission design drivers against those metrics\. This will be followed with mission and/or weapon design optimization such to maximize desired effect of performance metrics;+ Model, simulate, and analyze high\-fidelity engagements between various systems such as defense missile systems and aircraft\.This will involve rigorous determination of engagement effects and subsequent design alterations so that the engagement results in a satisfactory fashion for a system of interest, if possible;+ Execute the above activities in desktop, high\-performance computing, and real\-time environments;+ Develop and document mission and engagement scenarios, applied system engineering process and methodology, and analysis result, and present all of these to internal and external stakeholders\. In addition, effective interaction and work with multidisciplinary teams will be expected at all times\. Required: + Bachelor's degree in relevant STEM discipline with four years of relevant experience \(significant demonstrated experience in missile systems design, modeling, or analysis\) or an Advanced Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics;+ The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q level security clearance\. Desired: + Experience with one or more of the following: mission\-level modeling tools \(such as AFSIM, SUPPRESSOR, EADSIM, etc\.\), engagement\-level modeling tools \(such as ESAMS, VEGA, etc\.\), Aerospace flight systems, systems engineering processes, scripting languages \(Python, Java, Perl\), MATLAB and Simulink;+ Familiarity with computer coding in C\+\+, Fortran, C, C\#, or other similar tools;+ Familiarity with RF, optical, IR, and laser systems \(such as RADAR\);+ Ability to work across a wide variety of disciplines to integrate designs into a complete system \(software, hardware, mechanical, etc\.\); working within projects that require adherence to formal engineering design standards, modeling and requirements; and work successfully in a team environment with various disciplines of engineers and scientists;+ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills;+ Demonstrated ability to team well with others\. Department Description: The Scrimmage Department, 5491, develops an understanding of potential future warfighter technology needs through simulation and analysis of mission and engagement vignettes\. This allows for development of a deep understanding of potential gaps in warfighter capabilities and helps to drive proposals, technology roadmaps, as well as requirements for future systems\. The capabilities draw upon both the offensive and defensive technology expertise at the laboratory\.
