Supervisor's Title: Medical Director - Physician

Provides patient care based on Standards of Joint Protocols between Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner and Supervising Physicians. Possesses the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of patients primarily in the adolescent growth and development period. Possesses knowledge of universal precautions and infection control techniques.
Provide inpatient, outpatient and emergent care
Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and injuries
Provide ongoing care for chronic illnesses
Assess and monitor patient response to treatment plan
Complete documentation of medical history and exam findings using an Electronic Medical Record System in a timely manner
Write admission orders for newly admitted inpatients
Conduct inpatient rounds as directed by the Medical Director
Complete all appropriate documentation regarding prescription ordering and dispensing
Triage students with more complex emotional and/or physical problems and refer to appropriate resources
Interface with counseling staff as needed
Monitor students' use of prescribed psychotropic medications and initiate appropriate follow-up and collaboration with the Medical Director including parents and housemaster if needed
Provide on-call service to the Infirmary as scheduled by the Medical Director. Instruct and teach patients about their health issues and treatment plan. Evaluate response to treatment plan
Provide parental notification of conditions and treatments as needed
Communicate with housemasters, administration and faculty based on HIPPA and Patient Privacy guidelines
Promote Infirmary Services by supporting and promoting quality assurance activities
Successful completion of an approved Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
3-5 years of clinical experience in a pediatric office, hospital or school setting preferred
Education and/or Experience:
Master of Science in Physician Assistant or Nursing
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants)
ANCC (American Nursing Credentialing Center)
New Jersey State Physician Assistant License
CPR/AED Certification or BLS/AED Certification
New Jersey Criminal Background Check

Ability to prioritize and effectively manage diverse tasks, often with interruptions
Ability to clearly communicate information concerning a patient's condition.
Computer proficiency, especially with electronic medical record keeping systems
Requires ability to move intermittently throughout the day inclusive of sitting, standing, bending, pushing, pulling and moving objects and patients
Must be physically capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds
