The Director of International Business Development markets University economic development research campus and programs and develops its research partner relationships and industry prospects. Maintains a critical role in the development of strategic opportunities for the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR). Works to develop internal and external communications and marketing strategies. Performs other duties as assigned.
40% - Essential - Business Development: Develops target automotive research partner relationship prospects. Joins or leads prospect efforts, determining possible marketing events and trade shows, as well as managing the coordination and planning of events. Works in coordination with other research and academic programs at Clemson University with regards to marketing, prospecting, and the development of target strategies.
25% - Essential - Communication: Maintains written and verbal communication with key stakeholders and the public. Maintains timely and frequent communication to both internal and external parties. Coordinates with appropriate University officials on all external communication matters. Manages the development of economic marketing materials related to the CU-ICAR and CURI campus and its partners.
20% - Essential - Support of Carroll A. Campbell Graduate Engineering Center (CGEC): Supports CGEC in the creation of external research and education partnerships with industry and academia. Supports CGEC creation of Deep Orange Partnerships.
10% - Essential - City and State Relations: Leads and participates in joint initiatives with the city, state, and related entities. Manages and prepares formal responses and makes presentations to various governing councils and municipal and State review bodies. Establishes and maintains contacts and rapport with local and State agencies. Coordinates with Clemson University office on some, not all matters concerning governmental relations.
5% - Essential - Administrative Coordination: Coordinates the CU-ICAR marketing and communication. Maintains appropriate records and files for State agency.
The ideal candidate has earned a Master’s degree and has 10 or more years of experience, 5 or more of which is industry-related experience, such as automotive, mobility, and aerospace. The ideal candidate is bilingual in languages related to the automotive industry, and has a strong technical aptitude.

Regular overnight travel is required.
Standard Hrs: 37.5;
Salary commensurate with experience.
