The Innovations in Government (IAG) program at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the Harvard Kennedy School recognizes and promotes creative and effective problem solving by government and citizens. The Program Assistant to the Innovations in Government Program reports to the Senior Associate Director for Innovations and the Government Innovators Network and performs a variety of administrative, faculty, and program support functions for this core Center initiative, which includes, among other projects: Data-Smart City Solutions; the Project on Municipal Innovation; and the Innovations in American Government Program.
Specific responsibilities include: supporting the Director of the IAG program with course assistance; scheduling appointments; processing invoices, reimbursements, travel and corporate card vouchers; and assembling information needed for speaking engagements and written presentations. The Program Assistant also will provide in-depth program support for Data-Smart City Solutions, including arranging substantive calls and meetings with policy leaders and high level local officials, and disseminating on-line content through social media to project stakeholders.
This is a fully benefits-eligible term position ending one year from date of hire, with possibility of renewal.

At least one year of administrative experience; internships will count toward experience.
Bachelor's degree preferred. The candidate must have strong organizational abilities and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, must be flexible, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as work productively as part of a team. Ability to handle senior-level faculty, government leaders and potential donors with discretion and poise. Interest in and/or knowledge of public policy and management and familiarity with academic institutions helpful. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
