NYC H2O, a NYS 501(c)3 non-profit, is seeking a grant writer to research and apply for grants from foundations and government entities for STEAM based educational activities and programming.
Work is done independently to first research possible funding sources and present them to our grants team for vetting. Drafts of grant proposals will be reviewed by our grants team who provide feedback and editing. Document submission is also needed. This includes assembling support materials as well as providing the status of a pending application and writing final reports when required. Reporting on, and tracking grant proposal activity, is expected.
The applicant should be accustomed to working with others as well as independently. Prior experience in working with both types of grant writing is desirable; experience in successfully writing grants for foundations is necessary. Excellent grammar and research skills are required as is the ability to work on deadline to turn around materials on a timely basis. Prior experience in writing, managing, or administrating historical preservation and/or ecology grants is a plus. Successful applicants are expected to familiarize themselves with NYC H2O programs, goals and financial needs and to participate in NYC H2O activities to the degree possible. Please be prepared to provide references.
