Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; soliciting observations from operators.
Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Required: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required. • Master’s degree is preferred. • Minimum of seven (7) years directly related and progressively responsible experience. • Must be willing to apply for and gain Government Security Clearance (US Citizenship required).
• Experience with mechanical design of optical-mechanical systems. • Experience with mechanical CAD software – SolidWorks preferred. • Experience with plastics design, including injection molding, vacuum/pressure forming; machining and sheet metal design. • Experience with rapid prototyping technologies. • Experience with product packaging approaches. • Experience with DFX, including manufacturability, cost, quality, safety, etc. • Experience with integration of optical and electrical components.
Preferred: • Knowledge of sensing and vision technologies, including FPAs. • Knowledge of illumination technologies. • PDM solutions such as PDM-Pro/ePDM and Sharepoint. • Experience with mechanical analysis tools.
