The EMEA Legal and Compliance Department is charged with day-to-day oversight and coordination of the Firm's compliance with core regulatory requirements covering all businesses including Institutional Sales and Trading (Fixed Income, Commodities and Equities), Investment Banking, Research, Investment Management and Private Wealth Management Business across the EMEA region.
The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and Investigations team develops an environment of proactive financial intelligence relating to all financial crimes including money laundering, external and employee fraud, global sanctions, anti-corruption and high risk customer due diligence. The role of the FIU/Investigations team is to receive, request, analyse and disseminate information related to suspicious activities in order to improve GFC's monitoring processes and case results.
The FIU/Investigations Compliance Officer reports to the EMEA Head of FIU/Investigations.
Primary Responsibilities The FIU/Investigations Compliance Officer will support the EMEA Head of FIU/Investigations with: - Conducting time-sensitive, internal and external investigations of potential suspicious financial activity, among multiple Business Units and GFC coverage areas, utilizing a wide variety of research and analytical tools - Querying and mining large data sets to discover transaction patterns, examine financial data and filter for targeted information using traditional as well as predictive/advanced analytic methodologies - Analysing trends and patterns in alerts for GFC coverage areas using advanced analytic tools -Acting as the first point of contact for level 3 transaction monitoring, negative news and sanctions screening escalations for EMEA - Ensuring that all analysis is completed in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining the highest standards for regulatory and compliance requirements - Liaising with Compliance IT and other key stakeholders and partners with respect to technology projects and other initiatives impacting the FIU/Investigations - Monitoring Financial Crimes industry developments, including red flags and best practices and ensure processes are in place to keep the FIU/Investigations team updated on such developments Other GFC Activities - Recommend enhancements to key components of GFC compliance and controls systems, as required - Assist with other areas of the GFC Program based on information identified during investigations as needed (e.g. training enhancements, policy and procedure updates) - Assist with special projects and targeted reviews for Business Units and GFC coverage areas
Skills required (essential)
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes: - Previous Investigations experience, preferably gained within a financial institution - Professional degree or equivalent, with strong academic credentials - Experience of International regulatory environments including securities regulators and crime agencies - ACAMS certification - Knowledge of Financial Crime Frameworks including the Money Laundering Regulations - Possess an understanding of financial markets and traded products - Maintain awareness of current laws, rules and regulations - Possess knowledge of statistical and data mining technical tools and concepts. - Be able to interact with Business Unit personnel and be willing to receive and apply feedback on work product from supervisor(s) - Show meticulous attention to detail - Possess strong analytical thinking and critical reasoning skills - Have the ability to interact in a professional manner with a variety of individuals within the GFC team and across the organization - Have the ability to effectively handle a fast paced environment and successfully meet established deadline requirements - Be self-motivated and must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, previous experience of report writing and strong time management skills
