Cermak Health Services (CERMAK) provideshealthcare to the detainees at the Cook County Department of Corrections. TheCorrectional Psychiatrist works under the direct clinical supervision of theChief of Psychiatry and with the Unit Director/Correctional Psychologist as atreatment team leader for the mental health professionals and other healthdisciplines, as well as custody staff, assigned to the respective unit.The psychiatrist may be assigned to intake,urgent care, acute, residential or outpatient treatment units, providingcomprehensive psychiatric assessment/diagnosis, medication management, therapyand discharge planning to the inmate population of the jail.
M.D. or D.O. degree from anaccredited medical college or university
Must be licensed as aphysician in the State of Illinois or have the ability to obtain license priorto starting employment
Must be board certified inPsychiatry or eligible for certification
Current and valid IllinoisControlled Substances license or have the ability to obtain license prior tostarting employment
Current and valid licensurewith the Federal DEA
Current and validcertification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or have the ability toobtain certification prior to starting employment
Must successfully meet the credentialing standardsestablished by the Cook County Health and Hospitals System to include a Stateof Illinois MD license and any other license, certification, or specializedtraining, etc. no later than two (2) weeks prior to the candidate's start date.
When applying for employment with the Cook CountyHealth & Hospitals System, preference is given to honorably dischargedVeterans who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States for not lessthan 6 months of continuous service
