Advertised Summary Job Description: The Associate Dean of Administrative Affairs leads the financial, administration and human resources, operations and analytics functions and serves as a senior leader for the School of Professional Studies (the School) while managing a budget in excess of $100M. Working closely with senior staff, committees, governance bodies and other members of the Dean's Office, the Associate Dean leads the Schools' efforts toward agreement on resource allocations and strategic objectives through a detailed planning and budgeting process. As member of the Dean's Executive Leadership team, the Associate Dean provides guidance on all strategic planning and budget preparation and supports the Dean on major strategic issues within the School.
Budget and Finance Management The Associate Dean has oversight authority and is responsible for all accounting, budgeting and finance initiatives for SPS and provides leadership in the implementation of all financial initiatives. Working closely with the financial team, the incumbent oversees all aspects of the School's accounting, budgeting and finance activities, working to ensure accurate collection and dissemination of financial data and proper construction of financial models for all SPS projects. The Associate Dean ensures that all accounting and finance policies are consistent with GAAP, University policies and taxation requirements when applicable. The incumbent works closely with the key internal stakeholders such as the Office of the Executive Vice President of A&S, the Controller as well as other University partners to design and implement policies and procedures that are responsive to the needs of the School and the University. Additionally, the Associate Dean oversees the preparation of quarterly and yearly budget submissions as well as monthly, quarter-end and year-end closes. The incumbent also leads in the recruitment of key financial personnel and serves on the recruitment committees for the hiring of key senior staff members.
Human Resources Management The Associate Dean oversees the Human Resources function by providing guidance and strategic direction to the Executive Director of Human Resources (EDHR). The Associate Dean manages and works closely with Executive Director of HR to create an environment in which HR act as expert advisors to business, administrative, and academic units and deliver value to clients through consulting, coaching, creative problem solving, business understanding, proactive interventions, and service excellence. The Associate Dean works with the EDHR to develop overall resources allocation strategy and other human capital initiatives such as succession plan strategies for key functions in the School.
Operations Management Information Technology Management Working with IT team, the Associate Dean has oversight and helps direct the overall Informational Technology strategy for the School. Provides leadership and guidance and works with head of IT to find IT solutions and creates policies and procedures that support the strategic goals and mission of the School. Creates IT governance model to approve, prioritize and sequence IT initiative to ensure proper resource allocations and alignment with strategic and tactical goals.

General Minimum Qualifications: -Master's degree required. -Minimum of ten years of experience in higher education or related field, with progressively higher management responsibility including oversight responsibility for a professional staff designing and implementing effective client-centered, data-driven strategic operational strategies and tactics oriented toward enrollment and financial growth.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: -Demonstrated leadership experience in finance, IT, and/or HR in a higher education context -Experience leading and/or optimizing information management activities and extensive experience with database development/integration, analysis, and reporting -Familiarity with CRM design/implementation, new and emerging web technologies, as well as standard office applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required -Strong project management, writing and editing, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills required -Demonstrated organizational and supervisory experience essential -Proven relationship development and management skills
Preferred Qualifications: -MBA strongly preferred. -Management consulting experience coupled with proven consultative approach to solving business problems and addressing new opportunities highly desirable. -Experience and in-depth knowledge of SIS and SQL. -Experience working in higher education.
