Research Associate/ Research Professor - School of Nursing-(160000B8)
The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Research Associate/Research Professor position. We seek an outstanding laboratory scientist with research interests that closely align with the University of Maryland Baltimore Center to Advance Chronic Pain Research (CACPR; http://www.umaryland.edu/cacpr/) and the Department of Pain and Translational Symptom Science (PTSS) at the UMSON.
The School fosters the growth and development of its organized research centers via programmatic support, infrastructure for conducting research including basic science and clinical laboratory facilities, and pilot funding opportunities. Faculty within the CACPR support members by providing mentorship to junior faculty, post-doctoral fellows and doctoral students, provide opportunities for collaborative research projects, and mock review of grant applications.
The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in neuroscience or related field, significant post-doctoral training and show substantive evidence of federal or R –equivalent funded program of research and an excellent publication record that supports the proposed area of research, and regional/national presentations.
The UMSON is part of the University of Maryland graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, social work, pharmacy and law, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy and social issues through inter-professional research, scholarship, teaching and community action. Its location in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C.-Annapolis triangle maximizes opportunities for collaboration with government agencies, health care institutions and life sciences industries.
Research interests must be highly aligned with CACPR and the PTSS department, UMSON, and the skill set of the successful applicant is expected to contribute to collaborative research efforts.
Substantively contributes to the research and scholarship efforts of the school through the maintenance and expansion of a robust, independent program of extramurally funded research: successful applicants are required to have federal or R-equivalent extramural grant funding upon hire.
Mentors pre- and post-doctoral trainees and staff in research-related laboratory-based projects and techniques.
Actively participates in organized research center activities.
Doctoral degree (PhD) in neuroscience or a related field required
Evidence of scholarly achievement in terms of data-based publications, extramural funding for research and national/international research presentations
Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Research Associate Professor or Research Professor
