POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director for Administrative Services, the Lead Solutions Architect focuses on managing data as an institutional asset across applications and utilizing modern technology to host and integrate modern business applications. The position will convert requirements into the architecture and design to constitute the blueprint for a solution. This role must think strategically about current and future states of administrative technologies including all integration points. The Lead Solutions Architect supervises a team of engineers and design technology professionals focused on designing and implementing administrative technologies. The role serves as a mentor and provides technical guidance to application developers, administrators, analysts, and engineers throughout Technology Resources. This role will be part of a highly collaborative Administrative Technology Services team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design the installation and integration of administrative applications ensuring data is managed as an institutional asset across applications.
Conceive, optimize, design, and integrate information technology based solutions to complex business problems. Supervise a team of engineers and design technology professionals.
Partner with Director for Administrative Services to facilitate the development and maturation of an administrative services governance framework including a design and implementation methodology; Ensure methodology remains in line with Software Development Life Cycle Guidelines.
Balance architectural strategy with the strategy of the Enterprise.
Provide motivation and guidance during the systems development life cycle.
Ensure that solution architecture aligns with the roadmaps for enterprise architecture
Partner with the Manager for Enterprise Administrative Services & Development, Application Services Manager, and Associate Director for Project Management and Business Analysts to develop and manage all services within the administrative service portfolio.
Act as liaison with managers of other (non-administrative) technology services (learning management system, email, calendar and other collaboration and end user computer services, etc.)
Represent Administrative Services on committees and groups focused on the design/selection and implementation of Administrative Services
Manage Consultant and/or Contractor relationships to assist with the design/selection and implementation of Administrative Services deliverables when relevant.
Help resolve Enterprise Administrative Services support issues. Work with appropriate management and staff to identify root cause; followed by a resolution of the issues.
Stay abreast of technological advances, and vendor strategy; continuously research better ways to accomplish tasks, integrate new technologies, and provide Berklee the best Administrative Services based on Berklee’s needs.
