Reporting to the Deputy Compliance Officer and indirectly to the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer, the Revenue Cycle Compliance Officer is responsible for assuring that the key elements of an effective revenue cycle compliance program are in place and operationalized as it relates to the UCI Health Compliance Program by: conducting and overseeing revenue cycle compliance audits and investigations; developing policies and procedures for the revenue cycle compliance program in support of accurate and efficient coding and billing; developing and implementing content for compliance education and training; and serving as the in-house expert and advisor on compliance matters related to coding, billing, and medical documentation.Leads and/or participates in projects related to the design, implementation, revision and maintenance of processes and systems that promote revenue cycle compliance.Monitors, analyzes, interprets, and communicates regulatory changes related to coding, billing, and medical record documentation from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), QIO, Medi-Cal and other related government entities. Leads and oversees efforts to respond to new or changing regulations, including but not limited to communicating regulations to leadership and affected departments, assembling and chairing work teams, and developing/providing education regarding regulatory requirements.Ensures that audits initiated by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services (OIG), Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), QIO, Medi-Cal and other related government entities are responded to timely and thoroughly. The position is responsible for developing and communicating a comprehensive corrective action plan to any identified opportunities for process improvement. Independently leads all revenue cycle compliance related investigations for UCI Health and acts as a resource and provides advice and assistance on highly sensitive or difficult investigatory reviews as well as complex matters of law and policy. Provides information and updates to the CCO, Vice Chancellor and Dean as needed for the investigation process and ensures appropriate interaction with and notification of all relevant internal parties at UCI Health and/or external representatives.
