Research Integrity Specialist (Accountability & Compliance Specialist)-(170001H7)
The Office of Accountability and Compliance/Conflict of Interest has an opportunity for a Research Integrity Specialist. The Conflict of Interest compliance unit oversees the management of financial conflicts of interest in research at UMB. The Research Integrity Specialist will assist the Conflict of Interest (COI) Officer with administering the review and management process for such conflicts. The selected candidate will contribute in researching, assembling and disseminating information on all areas of research integrity related to conflict of interest.

Gathers and analyzes relevant university research policies, researches guidelines from government and private granting organizations, and prepares and delivers materials in electronic, hard copy and presentation formats.
Assists with the disclosure and review process for conflict of interest (COI) cases, which includes helping faculty and staff complete COI disclosure documents and overseeing training and disclosure requirements.
Prepares and submits periodic activity reports relevant to all areas of responsibility.
Assists with training university researchers (faculty, staff and trainees) and administrators in research integrity and the responsible conduct of research; including developing curriculum content for training as well as disseminating information through small and large group settings, written hard copy and web based applications.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree (JD or Master's degree preferred) or equivalent in relevant field such as Education, Administrative Science, Law, Health or Policy.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in a regulatory compliance oriented role. Previous legal or paralegal experience preferred.

Ability to adapt quickly and prioritize effectively.
Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills; Ability to draft error-free and high quality written communications (e.g. reports, memoranda, correspondence) with minimal direction or supervision.
Ability to effectively carry out investigations of compliance violations.
Strong computer skills required and ability to learn internal information management systems.
Ability to employ a high degree of discretion, tact and diplomacy in dealing with senior level internal and external contacts.
Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information.
