Ascensus has an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional to lead the accounting department, including ownership of accounting policies and procedures, accounting operations, financial reporting and regulatory compliance. This position reports into the CFO and will collaborate to develop short and long-term finance department strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

Partner with the CFO to determine accounting implications for all material business decisions;
Review all documentation and contracts in order to develop and improve internal controls to progress toward IPO readiness;
Manage internal and external monthly and quarterly financial reporting processes, including drafting and reviewing financial statements and regulatory filings, ensuring quality, and adhering to strict timetables;
Manage transaction accounting, purchase accounting, SOX compliance, the monthly close process, and other financial controls;
Assist in M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities;
Oversee general ledger functions; assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards, best practices and in accordance with US GAAP;
Act as primary liaison with external audit firm, while owning primary responsibility for the Company’s views on technical accounting matters;
Collaborate with and contribute to Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors to improve overall performance;
Work with senior management to ensure internal compliance;
Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned
Develop junior accounting staff, managing their career progressions and ensuring effective supervisory structure succession plans.
Certified Public Accountant designation required;
Experience as a Manager with a Big 4 or other large public accounting firm;
10+ years’ experience in financial reporting and audit, preferably in a high-growth, acquisitive organizations;
Strong executive presence and ability to develop and lead others;
Expert written and oral communication skills – ability to communicate effectively (clear, concise and professionally) with all levels within Ascensus;
Expert level proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Excel;
GL/ERP implementation experience a plus – project underway to upgrade or replace Lawson v9 with dedicated project team identified
