About National CARES Mentoring Movement:
The National CARES Mentoring Movement is a community-mobilization initiative, anchored by 58 local CARES Affiliates across 26 states. We directly address the life-shredding effects of intergenerational Black poverty, laying a blueprint for community recovery. We are the only organization providing holistic programming on a national scale to undergird and... advance impoverished Black children, and we are the nation's recognized leader in the recruitment, training and engagement of African American mentors. Culturally grounded and trauma-informed, the CARES curricula-based group-mentoring protocols are built to mitigate the systemic forces that push out, and write-off our struggling children by instilling in them the hope, confidence and love for learning they must have to override the hurdles of impoverishment.
Today, National CARES is focused on continually improving its offerings, strengthening its internal infrastructure and building the capacity of its local Affiliates to reach as many youngsters as possible through a national expansion strategy.
