Mecklenburg County in North Carolina, is seeking an Assistant Health Director for Clinical Services to lead the largest Public Health Clinical Services Division in the state of North Carolina and within the top 50 in the nation. The successful candidate will be a proven public health administrator with a background in nursing who has a record of outstanding and innovative leadership in public health service delivery and change management; and is excited to join the newly restructured Public Health Department and Clinical Services Division. The Assistant Health Director for Clinical Services will join a restructured leadership team to lead a reorganizational effort designed to improve organizational efficiency, increase employee morale and improve patient outcomes. MCHD, employs 800 FTE with a budget of $77.1 M. The Clinical Services Division, with approximately 135 employees, will provide services throughout the County. Current programs include Immunization, TB, Travel, Refugee, Family Planning, BCCCP, Women’s Health, STD/HIV testing and treatment, laboratory, pharmacy and dental service. The successful candidate will have a track record of maintaining excellent quality programs as well as be a champion for innovation in health care assessment and delivery. This position works closely with the Medical Director to assure appropriate, integrated, and efficient clinical services for the residents of Mecklenburg County. The selected candidate will provide oversight of nursing scope and assurance of nursing practice for the Department. Serving on the executive team of the Health Department, the Assistant Health Director for Clinical Services will work with the Health Director and the other members of the team to provide cohesive, transformational leadership for the Health Department. The position also assists the Health Director in all aspects of managing the Health Department and is available to act on behalf of the Health Director in his/her absence. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and North Carolina Nursing Licensure, six (6) years of progressively responsible public health management experience, including direct supervisory experience for the clinic/nursing operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience, and knowledge of nursing practice standards Preferred Education & Experience: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Nursing Management Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration or related field in addition to a BSN and NC Nursing Licensure, six (6) years of senior management public health experience with responsibility for the management of clinics and/or nursing, and experience providing oversight for nursing practices across a public health agency.
