Under direct supervision the incumbent is responsible for having a working knowledge of the Joint Commission, CMS, and Title 22 standards to ensure compliance with all requirements of the Organized Medical Staff and to act as liaison between the medical staff, nursing staff, and administration.The incumbent is responsible for processing applications and reapplications of all credentialed providers working in any of the three North State Service Area hospitals and communicating necessary information to the hospital departments. This includes working closely with the Quality Department to coordinate quality assessment activities/reports as necessary. The incumbent will also facilitate medical staff meetings which include agenda preparation, minute taking and follow-up from committee discussion in an accurate and timely manner. The position reports to the Director Medical Staff Services.
Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist and/or Certified Medical Staff Coordinator and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management with a minimum of 3 years working in a medical staff services department or equivalent field of education with credentialing experience required within the past 3 years

Graduate from an accredited college with at a minimum completion of an Associate's degree in a business or medical field
Must be highly skilled with use of various software programs, specifically; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint); Physician Databases (iCactus at the North State Service Area hospitals); MS4 ( patient registration system); Cerner (computerized medical record system); MobileMD (heath information exchange system); Adobe Acrobat; Internet Explorer
Proficient in modern office practice, procedures, and equipment
Proficient in business English, spelling and grammar
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagrammatic or schedule form.
Ability to maintain confidential and complex clerical records and to prepare accurate reports
Ability to exercise judgment, courtesy and tact in receiving callers, in giving and obtaining information and in making proper disposition of problems
Ability to acquire rapidly considerable knowledge of governing policies and regulations, as well as the operational structure of the hospital
Ability to compose a variety of memoranda or letters with only general instruction
Must be able to type on laptop during meetings as discussions occur (an average of 60 wpm)
Must be organized, detail oriented and able to work in fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
