Advertised Summary Job Description: The Adult Education Program Manager has oversight for all aspects of the TASC program and other evening adult education activities including supervision of student staff and volunteers, programming, administrative functions, and evaluation processes. The hours are from 12:30pm to 8:30pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00am to 5:00pm on Friday.
Core Responsibilities and Basic Duties:
-Recruit, hire, and train student staff including Program Specialists and Coordinators; supervise and coach student staff in performance of tasks. -Coordinate the recruitment, training, evaluation and coaching of volunteer teachers and tutors, engaging them in professional development workshops when appropriate; devise and manage systems to track professional development according to new training requirements by government funding. -Attend training sessions and conferences to learn about best practices in adult education and meet NYS Education Department training standards. -Assist the Director of Adult Programs to develop curricula; create teacher manuals that guide lesson plan development. -Manage relationships with new and existing neighborhood partners to facilitate participant referrals and to obtain classroom space. -Initiate and nurture relationships with University departments to facilitate volunteer and Work-study recruitment and campus classroom space. -Provide weekly written program summaries as well as quarterly programmatic reports regarding all grant required benchmarks. -Provide program specific information for grants. -Continually evaluate, refine, and improve all programmatic systems and procedures; develops implementation plans on a quarterly basis. -Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required and or equivalent related experience; Masters preferred. Minimum of three years' experience in adult education or related fields. Prior project management experience required.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Incumbent must have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in workforce development, grant management, and evaluation processes preferred.
