Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Clerk/Typist.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing clerical duties requiring judgment in assigned areas.
Types reports, correspondence, and other diversified materials for assigned area. Types materials neatly and accurately. Types materials using correct format. Types materials within the time/deadline specified by the supervisor.
Maintains and retrieves files of a complex nature for assigned area. Files information neatly and accurately. Maintains files in an organized and up-to-date manner in order to facilitate their retrieval.
Completes filing in accordance with departmental procedures. Duplicates and collates materials upon request. Enters, maintains, and updates routine records in assigned area. Records and updates information accurately and neatly. Maintains records in accordance with departmental procedures.
Sorts and distributes documents and forms for the area/section. Distributes materials on a timely basis. Distributes materials according to content of communications and departmental procedures. Logs in materials with respect to time and date, when applicable.
Responds to inquiries and answers the telephone for the area/section. Greets and screens visitors and phone calls in a pleasant and courteous manner; identifies the department when answering the phone. Takes messages thoroughly and accurately. Attends to telephones and inquiries promptly. Directs telephone calls and individuals to correct area or individual based on content of inquiry.
Processes incoming and outgoing documents by transcribing data, figures, statistics, codes, and other information. Completes forms neatly and accurately. Secures accurate signatures and forwards documents/forms to the appropriate destination based on pertinent Medical Center procedure.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typing (40 wpm) required. Good communication skills.
Knowledge of office routine/procedures preferred. Telephone and data entry skills
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
