The Senior Accountant position is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of the financial statements and other financial reports to be used by Management of the various entities within the Sinai Health System.
The Senior Accountant is expected to interact with individuals in and outside of Sinai Health System in a professional manner exercising excellent customer service skills.
The progression for the Senior Accountant is determined by the level of supervision required to keep the accountant productive as well as the experienced gained in the role as Senior Accountant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
Maintain and balance general ledger.
Ensure account analysis reports and reconciliation is prepared on a regular and/or as needed basis.
Record contractual allowances and prepare analytical work papers
Prepare reports and schedules required for audit, budgets and cost reports. Serve as audit liaison.
Prepare various governmental and non-governmental reporting requirements.
Resolve technical and procedural issues within the department.
Continually undertakes initiatives for improvements within and outside the department.
Act as a resource to provide information or to determine the most effective way of meeting the needs of management, staff, clients and customers as its relates to project initiatives.
Lead as well as assist with the development of annual budget for system executives, directors and staff in conjunction with training and coaching leaders on the use of the on-line budgeting system.
Preformed as the lead senior accountant in coordinating, completing and receiving compliance ratings for the following formal audit projects; Government Audit Opinions for Sinai Health Systems, Federal, State and City fiscal audits..
Coordinates and supervise the preparation and completion of annual budgets for Sinai Health System
Trained and assist with supervision of new hires on the basis of recording, posting and reporting the daily and monthly activities for Sinai Health System General Accounting Department.
Coordinates and support Grant manager and Grant Accountant for grant reporting for all entities within the Sinai health system.
Lead and assist in the use of the information system software for the preparation and filing of the 990s tax reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or equivalent.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Combination of education and 3 years experience preferable in a health care environment with exposure to at least three of the following areas-general ledger, cost reporting, budget preparation, payroll, accounts payable, patient accounting, grant/fund accounting. Expertise in one area required; and proven excellence in analytical and technical skills.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred.
